Blue Eye Players Get Hands On Learning From Big Time College Coach

For the past three days basketball players at Blue Eye have got the opportunity to work with former NCAA basketball coach Mike Jarvis.

Through his relationship with Brian Mitchell and Fellowship of Christian Athletes,  Jarvis was happy to spend sometime helping the youngsters.  Working with Bulldog coach Kyle Turner, Jarvis worked two sessions a day with the Blue Eye Athletes- the high school kids workouts followed a shorter session with younger Blue Eye basketballers.

Jarvis said that communication was probably the biggest skill that he wanted to work on with the kids this week.  Getting them to talk to each other and being on the same page is vital to success in the team game.  He also worked on some defensive skills and drills with the guys.

Jarvis won more than 350 games in his college coaching career.  Perhaps, most known from his time at St Johns, he also spent time leading the programs at Boston University, George Washington, and Florida Atlantic.  He also spent time as a high school coach, at which time he coached Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing.
