My District Projections

We are through Five Weeks of Football action and time for my first district projections of the season.  Please keep in mind that I try to take any bias out of it.  This is not, necessarily where I would like to see teams finish, but rather where I project them to finish, looking at where they are now and what they still have ahead of them…..

Class 3

  1. Seneca- This will surprise most.. But if Seneca wins over Monett and Mt Vernon this is where they will finish… Right now clearly possible
  2. Mt Vernon- Mt Vernon should finish no lower than this… If they beat Seneca they will be be #1
  3. Cassville-They could actually finish behind Monett but would jump them because of the head to head victory
  4. Monett- Cubs could finish any of the top four slots but have already lost to Mt Vernon and Cassville with Seneca still to come.
  5. Reeds Spring- Wolves have dropped games to two of the teams ahead of them on this list. They would need to beat Cassville AND have them lose to Lamar and have the Wildcats not finish right behind Monett to move up.  One other thing that could help them move up is for Monett to drop a couple. Regardless, Wolves need to keep on winning and let the positioning take care of itself.
  6. Hollister- Tigers could easily move up this list with a win in the right spot
  7. Aurora- Houns have already beaten Nevada
  8. Nevada- pretty well locked in here

Class 5

  1. Carthage- The Tigers clearly belong here
  2. Ozark-  Have already beaten Branson and Nixa and play Republic next week
  3. Branson- Pirates must beat Nixa to finish here… If they lose, they likely drop to 5th
  4. Republic- They may actually finish ahead of Branson but as long as its right ahead Branson will jump
  5. Nixa- If they lost to Branson they finish here.

Class 2

  1. Ava- Best by a margin
  2. Strafford- should hold on to this spot.
  3. East Newton- Record not as good as others but play a whole lot tougher schdule
  4. Willow Springs- lost Friday Night but one of the bigger surprises
  5. Houston- Better but have not jumped as much as many thought
  6. Liberty- got a huge win last week, a chance to really jump if they get a couple more
  7. Forsyth- The Panthers early wins keep them out of the last spot
  8. Mountain Grove- Very Young.  Not used to this spot,

District Standings After Week 5

Wolves fall to Indians

A night that started about as good as possible for Reeds Spring went completely the other way in the second half and the Wolves fell to Seneca 28-16.

Reeds Spring took the opening drive and marched down the field.  In the end they took over seven minutes off the clock and put the ball in the endzone.

The Wolves next drive started with a bang, as Colton Cramblett ran 87 yards before being pulled down at the Indians two yard line.  However, the Wolves could not punch it in and had to settle for a short field goal.  That 10-0 score would still be on the board at the half.

The second half got off to a good start as well, as the Wolves got a stop and added another score, to make it 16-0.

But that was where the good night came to an end.  Repeated fumbles and muffed center-quarterback exchanges ended up costing Reeds Spring.  Seneca was able to get their power running game going and scored 28 unanswered to seal a victory at Carl Langley Field.

The loss drops the Wolves to 1-1 on the season.  They travel to Logan-Rogersville on Friday.
