Mitchell on the Move…

Alexis Mitchell will not be returning to Hollister as the head coach of their Volleyball program.    Instead, Mitchell will trade her blue and white for red and black and will be part of the new coaching staff across Lake Taneycomo, with the Branson Lady Pirates.

Mitchell will join, Hall of Famer, Francie McBride’s staff in leading the Lady Pirate Volleyball Program.  McBride was named head coach last month.  She is a legend in High School volleyball in Missouri.  She is a five time Coach of the Year recipient, winning five state titles in 14 Final Four trips with Winona High School.

Mitchell spent three years on the bench for the Lady Tigers.  She was a standout at Blue Eye before playing her college career at the University of Tulsa.

Mitchell was approved by the Branson School Board last week to teach Special Education at BHS.

Yocom to be Administrator…

With the loss to West Plains on Saturday the season came to an end for the Reeds Spring basketball team.  And too, the coaching career, it appears, for Barry Yocom.

Coach Yocom has resigned his position at Reeds Spring and will be taking over as a Principal in the Jasper, MO school district in 2020-2021.

Reeds Spring finished the season 14-13.  The Wolves Basketball team won 96 games under Yocom. Only Doyle Price won more as a head coach in the history of the program.  And, his winning percentage is 4th among coaches that stayed more than two seasons.

Yocom is a Wolf, through and through.  He came up through the school system and played his high school ball at RSHS.  He is the all-time leading scorer for the program.  After starting his head coaching career at East Newton, he was hired in 2012 to lead the Wolves.  When he was hired he described it as his “dream job”.

From a broadcast standpoint, Yocom has been incredible to work with.  He has been about the kids from day one and has always done a great job of promoting his players and his program.

Here is to wishing Coach Yocom, nothing but the best as he takes the next step in his career.
