The Countdown is on….

I went to my first Reeds Spring Football workout of the summer this morning.  Hard to believe that, just eight weeks from today will be the “walk through” for Week One.  It really does not seem like that long ago that the 2015 season ended.

So 57 days….  FIFTY-SEVEN !!!!  That is all the time area coaches have to get ready for this years version of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.  Its a different way to start the season for all three area teams.  Reeds Spring will play host to Mount Vernon, Branson jumps right into conference at Neosho, and Hollister will entertain Pleasant Hope.  All three teams have plenty of question marks. (previews of the season will come in a future story).  But just on the surface..  How does Reeds Spring replace the production of Nick Haddock and Colton Pomeroy?  Who will end up taking snaps at Branson and can they give him long enough to throw the ball?  And,  can Hollister take advantage of some of the experienced youth they have returning to take the next step in building the program?

Its not just football, though.  Within two months Cross-Country and fall Softball seasons will be going as well.  And, don’t forget about soccer.

So, while we still may not be even halfway through the summer break, its hard not to to already be getting excited about the fall sports seasons.  Teams have already starting their prep work.  While they may not be able to have full practices yet…  Camps, Shootouts, 7 on 7, off-season conditioning, and other forms of preparations have been ongoing.

Even though it may be 100 degrees and humid outside and the coolness of Fall might be a little hard to imagine… Dont worry.  The season is coming….. And it will be here before you know it.
